Turtles & Plastic Free Noosa

Did you know that turtles eat jelly fish? They are an important part of the food chain keeping the jelly fish populations of our oceans in check. Plastic can easily be mistaken as culinary delights by turtles causing serious and sometimes fatal consequences for these amazing creatures.

Being lovers of the ocean and all its creatures Noosa Oceanrider is proud to belong to a community with a plastic free initiative.

Noosa is the pilot community for Boomerang Alliance’s Plastic Free Places program with programs starting in Byron Bay & Perth. They work with food retailers, events, markets, and other organisations to assist in the switch to plastic free alternatives.

To date they have over 200 members and have eliminated nearly 3 million pieces of single use plastic!

To find out more or to get involved in the plastic free initiative go to www.plasticfreenoosa.org for more information.

One of Noosa’s most breathtaking experiences, there is nothing more magical than watching these amazing creatures in their natural habitat. Noosa’s aquatic backyard plays host to the humpback whales during their annual migration every winter where you can watch them frolic & play whilst taking in stunning natural cliff formations, lush emerald forests, pristine little coves and sweeping beaches.
