At Ocean Rider, whale / dolphin and Adventure Tours watching isn’t just a business — it’s a way of life. With over 30 years of combined experience on some of Australia’s most iconic waters, father and son duo Captain Michael Black and Captain Ozzie Jaxon Black (aka Captain Black Jr.) are the driving force behind one of Noosa’s most trusted and long-standing marine charters.
Operating out of Noosa for 25 years, Ocean Rider brings together decades of real sea experience. Between them, the Captains have worked extensively across the Southern Great Barrier Reef, Shark Bay (WA), Ningaloo Reef, and of course, their home waters here in Noosa.
From commercial and charter fishing, to coral viewing, freediving, dive charters, whale shark tours, and even marine filming, their experience is as deep as the ocean itself. Both Michael and Ozzie are passionate freedivers and surfers, with a profound respect for the marine environment and its creatures.
Whether you’re joining them for an intimate whale watching experience or a private marine charter, you’ll often find both captains on deck – sharing stories, spotting whales, and ensuring you get an unforgettable ocean experience. Other times, one of them takes the helm solo – but either way, you’re in expert hands.
